Creating a Quote Log for a Favourite TV Show

Timelady Sophz

Hi Readers,

Now I know last week's blog mentioned a new October doodle page, however one of my all time favourite TV shows came out last Friday...so the Loki obsession has begun again after a very long wait for Series 2!

My doodle page will be in next week's blog (I promise!) and this week instead is all about how to create a quote log for a favourite TV show!

Step One: Choose your show

Now I don't know about you but I have so many shows I love to watch and rewatch that choosing a "favourite" is almost impossible! That being said I have done two quote logs so far this year involving two of my many many favourite TV shows.

The first one I created was for The Mallorca Files, a crime show set in Mallorca available to watch on BBC Iplayer. The second was for the Marvel Show Loki, that came out on Disney Plus last Friday. I know that when the Doctor Who 60th Anniversary episodes come out, there will be a quote log created for that because it is MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE SHOW EVER!

So the first step in creating a quote log would be to choose which show you will be using, and also this means you get to rewatch it which is never a bad way to spend some time!

Step Two: Design a layout

For my two quote logs I used very different layouts. I had a list of the quotes I wanted to use prepared after hunting the internet, rewatching episodes and asking friends who also love the shows for their favourites as well. I then went into my boxes of washi tape to find some that I could use for bordering the log and hunted down multi-coloured pens and pencils for writing the quotes too.

Multicoloured sentences with quotes from the Mallorca Files show

As you can see, I used different coloured pens and pencils to highlight which character was speaking. Although saying that unless you have watched the show...some of these quotes you won't know who is talking!

I used specific character quotes for this log, as they are the main characters and the banter between Miranda and Max just make me love the show even more!

It is up to you whether you focus on specific characters or your favourite episodes to use quotes from.

💚Loki Series One Quote Log 💚

Gold and black leaf patterned washi tape acts as a border to the green and black quotes from Loki Series 1.

This layout is completely different to The Mallorca Files quote log. I focused primarily on each episode and wrote down my favourite quotes from those.

I used more washi tape, a gold marker pen alongside green biros and black fineliners to create this log. I drew an outline for the log in pencil and then put the washi tape over this to create the layout you see above.

Confession from the line at the bottom of this log...I did indeed save up my 15th rewatch to take me until the 6th of October! I have no regrets, it was worth it!

Step Three: Write down the quotes

I would recommend that you write down the quotes you want to use on paper, post it notes or online. This then gives you an idea of where you want to put each quote and how much space in your bullet journal you need. I found that I used the dots in my own journal to restrict the size of my writing for each quote. This enabled me to fit all of the quotes I wanted to onto one page. Of course if you have too many quotes for one quote log, feel free to make a double page quote log spread!

Keep your eyes peeled in November for my Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Quote Log and next week I will show the progress with my October Doodle page.

If you want a sneak preview of the doodle page, you can head over to my Instagram!

As always, I hope this have given you some inspiration and ideas for what you can do to capture quotes from your favourite shows or films inside your journal!

See you next week,

Sophie x
