Tips for Writing a Journal Diary

Timelady Sophz

Hello readers,

I am back from a weekend of camping with my Scout group (yes, I know the madness of camping outdoors in the UK in February is not lost on me, but it was brilliant!)

During this camp, I decided to write a little diary summarising what I got up to each day.

I used my bullet journal for this, as I took it with me everywhere, so it made it easily accessible during the rare moments of quiet time I got to myself!

I also use my bullet journal for travel diaries too, which helps to keep precious things like tickets or photos I took safe in my journal instead of lost in the suitcase on the way home.

My top tips for using a bullet journal as a diary, whether it be for travelling, camping, or a daily diary are:

  1. Create a front cover for your diary so you can easily find it within the journal. It is also a lovely way to create a theme and colour scheme for your diary

  2. Count how many pages you are going to dedicate to the diary and add a date/title for each of these

  3. Add some illustrations to your diary as you go. They help bring your diary to life alongside the writing

  4. Choose what you want to save space for in your diary. I kept ticket stubs, plane tickets, and stickers to put in mine

  5. Dedicate a day to each page. This helps to keep your diary succinct but summarises enough so you can relive the memories for years to come

I know this was a little shorter than normal. However, the sleep deprivation from Scout camp has caught up with me!

Thank you for reading my little blog,

See you next week,
