💚Musical Quote Log 💗

I am back this week with a post covering one of my all-time favourite musicals: Wicked.

As the film version of this is coming in November, I decided to make a little collection of some of my favourite quotes from the songs and the musical.

I limited myself to 30 quotes for a double page spread (which for me is pretty restrained). I stuck to a silver, pink and green colour scheme using a variety of fineliners, biros and paint pens.

I started making a list of the quotes I wanted to use and printed off the movie version of the title for the centre of my design. I dug out my glittery green washi tape, as well as a shiny and a patterned pink to create a border.

I used a silver paint pen for the corners of the border, as the washi tape I had didn't quite finish the edges off neatly.

Top tip: always use a paint pen last and make sure it is dry before shutting your journal.

I used my list and tried to add every single quote I could onto this double page spread.

I changed the font styles and sizes depending on what I was writing. For example LOATHING in all capital letters and jaggedy links well with the song What is the feeling, where Elphaba and Glinda have decided they hate each other. I went for curly and pink styles when writing Glina quotes like "toss, toss".

I definitely could have done more quotes but shockingly, I ran out of space. I decorated the page with different coloured hearts and a green hand for one of my favourite quotes:

I will definitely end up doing this for other musicals and films, as I really enjoyed the process of first finding the quotes and then thinking of creative ways to fit them all onto two pages.
